Grant writers near me: compare location and working arrangements
Finding a nearby grant writer starts with a documented location. Choosing the right one also means checking whether they know the funding you are pursuing, offer the work you need and can meet in person when that matters.
Below are six real firms with published U.S. bases. We keep their locations separate from nationwide client reach and on-site availability. You can browse every entry and contact a provider directly without entering your location or contact details.

Alphabetical, not ranked. A published address does not confirm a walk-in office, an assigned local writer or service throughout that state. Nationwide reach does not establish an office near you. “Not confirmed” means the cited sources do not establish that fact; it does not mean the provider cannot offer it. Capacity has not been confirmed for any listing.
These are unpaid editorial listings. Our methodology explains the evidence labels and ordering; our advertising disclosure explains how paid visibility is treated separately.
Find a documented base
The recorded bases in this comparison cover five states and the District of Columbia. Follow a location below to the corresponding provider details. This is a limited comparison, not a complete local directory.
- Arizona — Scottsdale: Seliger + Associates.
- District of Columbia — Washington: McAllister & Quinn.
- Georgia — Atlanta: Think and Ink Grant Consulting.
- New York — Clayton: DH Leonard Consulting.
- North Carolina — Raleigh: Eva Garland Consulting.
- Texas — Fort Worth: Connor Resource Associates.
If your state is not listed
We haven't verified a writer based in that state in this comparison. You can browse the full list or consider options outside your state.
That is a limit of our records, not evidence that no grant writers work in your state. If a local base is essential, use your organization's professional network or local grant-professional associations to identify additional candidates, then apply the same scope, evidence and fee checks below. We do not replace a missing local record with a national provider labeled as local.
If working remotely is acceptable, review the documented remote option or browse the broader hiring comparison. Confirm each provider's willingness to work with your organization and location directly.
Location details and questions to ask
Connor Resource Associates — Fort Worth, Texas
Published base: Fort Worth, Texas. Its homepage identifies the firm as Fort Worth based and says it serves clients across Texas and nationwide. The cited contact page gives Texas as its location; it does not establish a client meeting address or walk-in arrangements.
Consider for: nonprofit or municipal work where you need to separate funding research, planning and proposal writing. Its published estimates distinguish grant research at $500–$2,500 from foundation proposal writing at $3,000–$15,000+. Those estimates buy different scopes.
Confirm before hiring: whether the assigned person has worked with the relevant Texas or local funders; whether meetings can happen remotely or in person; and which research, budgets and supporting documents are included in the quote.

Contact Connor Resource Associates
DH Leonard Consulting — Clayton, New York
Published base: its contact page lists a Clayton, New York address. Its research service describes electronic delivery of funding-search materials. This supports electronic delivery of that work; it does not confirm every state's coverage or an on-site writing engagement.
Consider for: an organization seeking ongoing grant research, writing and strategy. The firm also describes rubric-based mock review. Its FAQ says typical writing-support contracts run for 12 months and that it does not accommodate single, isolated grant requests. Ask how that model applies to the service you need.
Confirm before hiring: the engagement length, whether the requested review or research can be purchased separately, and the writer's experience with your funders. Published in-person training should not be assumed to include on-site proposal work.
Published fee: quote required for your scope.

Eva Garland Consulting — Raleigh, North Carolina
Published base: Raleigh, North Carolina headquarters, documented on the firm's careers page. An on-site employee role is not evidence that the firm offers client-site meetings or proposal work.
Consider for: scientific or technology proposals requiring subject expertise. Published services include funding planning, full-proposal support, scientific review, budgets and registrations. For a small-business research application, compare SBIR and STTR specialists and confirm the exact agency and phase.
Confirm before hiring: who would handle your technical field, whether the project can be completed remotely, and whether any Raleigh or client-site meetings are available and included. The headquarters location alone does not establish experience with a particular North Carolina funding program.
Published fee: quote required for your scope.

Contact Eva Garland Consulting
McAllister & Quinn — Washington, District of Columbia
Published base: Washington, DC, documented on the firm's contact page. A DC address does not establish an office in nearby Maryland or Virginia, or preferential access to a federal funding decision.
Consider for: coordinating institutional or research proposals. The firm describes support from individual-investigator projects through institution-wide and research-center proposals, using proposal managers and specialists.
Its nonprofit capacity-building page also publishes virtual or in-person training at client sites or its DC learning center, plus an in-person planning retreat. Those are training and planning services; they do not establish an on-site proposal-writing contract.
Confirm before hiring: where your assigned team is based, whether meetings are virtual or in person, and whether the contract covers one proposal or continuing support. Ask for relevant program experience and a written allocation of writing, budget and submission responsibilities.
Published fee: quote required for your scope. Proposal-service geographic limits and on-site writing terms are not established in the cited sources.

Seliger + Associates — Scottsdale, Arizona
Published base: Scottsdale, Arizona. Its fee page says the firm usually works electronically and serves U.S. clients. It also describes an optional on-site scoping meeting, with travel time and per diem billed in advance at estimated actual costs.
Consider for: a defined proposal-writing or substantial editing assignment that can be conducted electronically. Most published writing assignments range from $6,000–$20,000. Editing and technical assistance are $300 per hour with a 15-hour prepaid minimum: a $4,500 editing commitment.
Confirm before hiring: whether an on-site scoping meeting is possible for your project, who would attend, and the written travel estimate. Published meeting terms are not confirmation of availability, an office in your state or ongoing work at your site.

Think and Ink Grant Consulting — Atlanta, Georgia
Published base: the firm's contact page lists Atlanta, Georgia. Its nonprofit page describes nationwide clients, but the cited pages do not establish on-site availability or a specific remote working policy.
Consider for: an established nonprofit seeking research, writing and post-award support. The published nonprofit offering specifies a 501(c)(3) determination and an annual operating budget of at least $3 million. That is the organization's budget, not the writer's fee; it is not a rule for every provider or every client program.
Confirm before hiring: whether your organization meets the applicable client criteria, the assigned team's experience with your funders, and whether local meetings or remote work are available. Smaller nonprofits can compare other nonprofit options.
Published fee: quote required for your scope.

Considering a remote grant writer
Of these six firms, Seliger + Associates explicitly describes its usual electronic working arrangements alongside U.S. client reach. DH Leonard publishes electronic delivery for research materials. Connor and Think and Ink publish nationwide reach, which is a reason to ask about your location rather than assume a remote engagement is already agreed.
For a remote quote, settle four practical points:
- Named responsibility: who drafts, reviews, approves and submits each part of the application.
- Working process: the meeting schedule, document-sharing method and expected response times for both sides.
- Local evidence: who supplies or researches community data, local funding criteria and required partner commitments.
- Total commitment: the scope, revisions, contract length, payment due before work and any separately billed costs.
A remote writer may be relevant even when no provider in this comparison is based near you. They still need to confirm project fit and capacity. See the services comparison to distinguish research, drafting and review before asking for a quote.
When local knowledge is the real requirement
“Near me” can mean three different needs: someone based nearby, someone who knows your funders, or someone who can work at your site. Specify the one that matters instead of treating a nearby address as proof of all three.
| What you need | What to ask for | What an address alone cannot establish |
|---|---|---|
| Knowledge of local foundations or government programs | A relevant example, the person's role and how they check current criteria | Recent experience with those funders |
| Community needs research | The proposed data sources, geography, deliverable and responsibility for checking the data | Familiarity with your service area |
| Staff or partner interviews | A meeting plan and the person responsible for conducting and documenting interviews | Willingness or capacity to meet in person |
| On-site work | Written dates, location, attendees, travel charges and cancellation terms | A booked visit or a nearby assigned consultant |
| A specialist technical proposal | Experience with the exact funding program, phase and technical field | Scientific or program expertise |
For a local foundation proposal, ask how the writer would establish eligibility and priorities before drafting. For a scientific application, specialist fit may be a more useful first filter than distance. Your organization remains responsible for accurate program facts, financial information and approval of the final application.
A short request you can send to a writer
We are a U.S. organization based in [city and state], seeking paid help with [research, a proposal, review or ongoing support]. Our project serves [service area], and the funding opportunity is [name and link, or not selected yet]. We need [remote work, local funder knowledge or a specified in-person meeting]. Please confirm relevant experience, who would do the work, availability, deliverables, contract length, total fee and any travel charges. Our deadline is [date, or not fixed].
Replace the brackets with your details and send the request directly to your chosen provider. You do not need to send GrantWriterMatch your project information. The hiring kit includes a fuller scope worksheet, interview questions and a quote-comparison template. The cost reference explains how to compare fees and minimum commitments.
Questions about finding a nearby writer
Does a writer have to be in my state?
That depends on your project and procurement requirements. If your organization requires a local supplier or in-person work, put that requirement in the request. If remote work is acceptable, ask the provider to confirm the arrangements and responsibility for any local research. GrantWriterMatch does not determine your organization's procurement eligibility.
Does nationwide service mean the writer is local to me?
No. It describes reach, not a nearby office or assigned person. We show documented bases separately and do not count nationwide firms as based in every state.
Can I visit a listed address?
Contact the provider first. A published contact or headquarters address does not establish walk-in access, meeting availability or where your assigned writer works.
Will GrantWriterMatch introduce me to a local writer?
This version provides comparisons and direct provider links. You choose who to contact, and the provider confirms scope, pricing and availability. Browsing does not submit a project, book a meeting or reserve a writer. Read how it works.
How can a provider correct its location?
Send the public source and the specific correction to partners@grantwritermatch.com. Listing evidence and updates are explained on For Grant Writers. We do not treat a location submission as independent proof of project outcomes or current capacity.
Choose the right working arrangement, then contact the provider
Start with a documented base if location is essential. If you can work remotely, compare the provider's services, relevant experience and total commitment before choosing. All provider contact links go directly to that provider; no signup is required.
